Obituary for L. David Bridges

L. David Bridges, age 73, of Springfield, Missouri passed away on Friday, July 19, 2019 in his home.

David was born August 27, 1945 in Ironton, Ohio, the son of Leroy and Dorothy (Massie) Bridges.

David was raised in Ironton, but as a teenager he moved to California. Many years later David’s first earthquake resulted in a move to Missouri which he soon found out that Missouri was the site of the biggest baddest earthquake ever! He was always thankful for that move to Missouri, because that’s where he met the love of his life, Jamie. They were married for almost 39 years. During that 39 years he never missed a day telling Jamie how much he loved her.

David worked for a Police Department in Southern California as a tow truck driver. He was a police officer in St. Roberts, Missouri and before retiring David was an auto detailer. He owned and operated Superior Car Cleaning.

Planes, Trains & Automobiles…David loved them all! He was enthusiastic about building models of cars, trucks and planes. He also loved Classic Rock and especially his 50’s music.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, David Massie.

David is survived by his wife and the love of his life, Jamie Bridges; his son, Leroy David Bridges, Jr., two sisters, Sharon Bradshaw and Jessica Kennedy; two brothers, Wayne Massie and Dan Massie; grandchildren, nieces, nephews and his beloved cat and Baby Girl, Muffin.

A special thank you to our adopted family, Gary, Stacey and Nova Dove.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, July 22, 2019 at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Springfield, Missouri under the care and direction of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home. No Visitation is planned.
