Obituary for Kenneth Ray Jones

Kenneth Ray Jones, 72, of Springfield, MO, passed away with family by his side at home on Friday February 5th, 2021.
He was born January 24th, 1949 in Galena, MO to the late Archie Ray and Peggy Jean (Short) Jones.

Kenny married Paula Kay Sponsler on December 5th, 1969 and to this union were born two daughters, Kendra and Leslie. On September 24th, 1994 Kenny married Marsha (Fox) Jones and with this union he gained three children, Angela, Adam and Nicole.

Ken graduated from Hartville High school in 1967, volunteered for the draft serving in Vietnam from April 1968 until April 1969. He worked many years as a US postal carrier and NALC Health Benefits representative. During these years he made many friends along his mail route and thru the NALC. In 1990 his Army Reserve Unit was activated to serve in Desert Storm and he spent several months in Saudi Arabia. Kenny was an avid outdoorsman; he spent many days hunting and fishing with his dad and friends. If you didn’t find Ken in the woods or on the lake, you would find him playing softball, bowling or golfing.

He is preceded in death by his parents Archie and Peggy Jones. Kenny is survived by his longtime companion Marsha, daughters, Kendra Dame and husband John, Leslie Bragg and husband Quentin, Step children Angie Monsees, Adam Monsees and Nicole Monsees, grandchildren, Colton Jones Dame and Sydney Renee Dame, sisters Judy Hawley, Janetta Cole and husband Bo, and Archilene Jones, honorary Army brothers Steve Trambaugh and Kenny Bullick, and other relatives and friends who loved Kenny very much.

Services will be held at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut Street in Springfield with visitation Tuesday, February 9th from 3:00 – 5:00 funeral immediately following visitation. A private family graveside service will be held on February 10th at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
