Obituary for Kenneth D. "Kenny" Barker

Kenneth Dean “Kenny” Barker, 38 of Springfield, passed away Sunday July 16, 2023.

Kenny was born July 28, 1984 in Springfield, Missouri to Suzette and Kenneth Barker. His nickname was “Bear” as he had a larger-than-life personality. However, he was a mama’s boy and was very caring for others, but you did not want to get on his bad side. He was a gifted athlete and loved playing baseball from a young age. Kenny has played softball and hit thousands of homeruns throughout his career playing in tournaments across the country. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Dallas Cowboy fan. He loved to fish and barbeque, and his family was the most important thing in his life.

He had worked for Prestressed Casting for 15 years and was currently employed with Buzz Pest Control.

Kenny's family wants to thank everyone who has reached out with love and support through social media to share their experiences with Kenny. It is this support that is helping them through this most difficult time in their life.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Wanda Lee Watts and his paternal grandparents, Mary and Leroy Barker.

Kenny is survived by his significant other, Malinda Casteel; his children, Andrea, Madison and Kenny; his parents, Suzette & Buddy Pilmore and Kenneth and Cheri Barker; his grandfather Bill Watts; his siblings, Sasha Vorbau, Michael Watts (Nicole), McKenzie Watts (Evan), Kipper Gardner, Raymond Gardner, and Lacy Adams; his cousins Eddie, Shannon and Travis Watts and many other relatives and friends.

A Visitation will be held for Kenny from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Thursday July 20, 2023 at Herman Lohmeyer Funeral Home, located at 500 E. Walnut Street Springfield, Missouri. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 am Friday July 21, 2023 at the funeral home with Pastor John English officiating. A burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Kenny is loved and missed more than words can ever express.
