Obituary for Kathleen Anne Daily

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Kathleen “Kathy” Anne Daily, who brought joy and laughter to everyone she met. She passed away peacefully on April 7, 2023, at the age of 73 in Springfield, MO, surrounded by her family.

She was born February 14, 1950, in Kansas City, MO, to parents David and Helen Zents, and was a loving sister to David Zents, Robert Zents, Linda Zents, and Michael Zents. She had three children, Daniel Daily, Matthew Daily, and Caitlin (Daily) Blaine.

Preceding Kathy in death are child, Matthew Daily; parents, David Zents and Helen Zents; brothers, David Zents and Robert Zents.

Remaining to cherish Kathy’s memory are ex-husband, James Daily; son, Daniel Daily, his wife Michelle Daily, and their children; daughter, Caitlin (Daily) Blaine and her husband John Blaine; brother, Michael Zents and his wife Kathy Zents; sister, Linda Zents; and many nieces and nephews.

Kathy was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Springfield, MO since 1984. She was a devout Catholic and encouraged her children to get involved in Church activities. In the 1990’s she participated in many of the parish’s organizations.

Kathy was a proud alumna of Notre Dame De Sion High School, in Kansas City. She had some schooling as a nurse before becoming a mother and homemaker where she focused on raising her family. Kathy and family lived in Wisconsin, in the DC area, and South Carolina before settling in Springfield, MO. Her fondest memories were of her children growing up. She was proud of their accomplishments. She made it apparent to everyone how much her children meant to her.

Kathy had a special place in her heart for animals, especially her many pets throughout the years. She had an impressive collection of movies. Kathy was an avid TV watcher and never missed her favorite shows, always having witty commentary to add. In recent years she especially looked forward to the times she went out to eat with Caitlin and John. Her face lit up every time their dog, Banjo, came to visit her. She treasured the frequent phone conversations she had with her siblings, who live in Kansas City.

Her friends and family will remember her for her infectious wit. Her sense of humor was contagious, and she had the special ability to make people feel comfortable around her. She was a loyal and true friend who will be missed by many.

Although her passing leaves a void in our lives, we find comfort in the hope that she is now reunited with her loved ones in heaven who have passed before her. Rest in peace, Kathy, and know that you will always hold a special place in our hearts.

The Funeral Mass will be held April 12, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Springfield, MO with a Visitation at 9 a.m.  Interment will be in Kansas City at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery April 13 at 1 p.m.
