Obituary for Joseph A. Pounds

Joseph "Joe" Allen Pounds of Springfield, MO, age 44, died peacefully in the arms of his wife on Sunday October 18th, 2020 at Mercy hospital of natural causes.

Joe was born on July 11th, 1976 in Bakersfield, Ca to Wilford and Patricia (Humble) Pounds. He went to high school at Vista high in Vista, Ca. And he got his truck driving school done at Arkansas State University in Newport, Ar in April 2002. Joe loved his profession as an over the road truck driver up until he became ill last year with his kidney disease and was unable to drive anymore. He had been an over the road truck driver for 17 years. He enjoyed training new drivers and passing on his knowledge as well. Joe was happily married to Gretchen (Muchmore) Pounds, who was his partner in life and his best friend on October 1st, 2016 in Walnut Shade, Mo. He just celebrated 4 years of happily wedded bliss with her, but they had spent almost 13 years together. Joe was a wonderful husband, father, and friend.

Joe enjoyed traveling and seeing new things, going to concerts, Silver Dollar City at Christmas time. And he loved just sitting on the beach. Joe's favorite holiday is coming up, Thanksgiving and he will be deeply missed, but we will have a piece of pumpkin pie for Joe because he loved it so much.

Joe is survived by his wife Gretchen Pounds, his daughter and her fiance, Summer Pounds and Timothy Peal and their daughter, Joe's granddaughter, Eona of Gardner, Ks, his 2 sons, Jacob Pounds of Gardner, Ks and Nicholas Pounds. And his 2 kids by marriage whom he loved as much as his own, his stepdaughter Caitlyn Stringer and his stepson Dominique Muchmore. And Joe has a grandson coming in January by Jacob Pounds named Leo, who he would have adored. His mother Patricia (Humble) Sare of Bolivar, Mo, his sister Emagene Johnson of Bolivar, Mo, and his 2 brothers, Roy Pounds of Sedalia, Mo, and Robert Pounds of Humansville, Mo. Joe was preceeded in death by his father Wilford Pounds, and his stepdad Ray Sare.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life gathering on Sunday November 8th, 2020 from 3p.m. until 5p.m. at Doling Park 301 E. Talmage Springfield, Mo 65803. In lieu of flowers there is a gofundme set up to help cover expenses or contact his wife at 417-440-9467.
