Obituary for Joan E. Hamblen
Joan Hamblen passed away on December 17th 2019 in Kansas City.
Jody spent her early years in and around Springfield, MO. She retired in 1992 from Southwestern Bell as a Union Steward of the Communication Workers of America. She always took great pride in serving as a local officer in the KC Labor Council including Legislative and community services.
She was in preceded in death by her father Harold Ward and mother Ann Boswell, and a brother Jerry Ward.
Joan is survived by a niece Keri Boswell White & Jim Brown of Clever, MO; nephew Jeff Ward of Louisiana; stepchildren Allen and Nora Lee Hamblen of Kansas City; her like to be called “daughter” Donna and Chris Thornton of Kansas City.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday December 21, 2018 in Hazelwood Cemetery with Pastor John English officiating. No formal visitation is planned however friends may call from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Thursday December 20, 2018 in Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home 500 E. Walnut Street Springfield, MO 65806.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Red Cross or your favorite charity.
