Obituary for Jamie C. Cantrell

Jamie Christine Cantrell, age 50, Willard, Missouri passed from this earth at 3:21 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 in Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.

She was born September 27th, 1972 in St Louis, Missouri and grew up in the Salem,Missouri area with her loving parents James and Jean Morton. Jamie married Bill Cantrell on February 14, 2009 in Republic, Missouri. She worked as a Supply Chain Project Manager for O’Reilly Auto Parts corporate office in Springfield, Missouri. Jamie loved her job and her coworkers. She was very proud of her occupation and the work that she accomplished.

Jamie touched many lives during her short time in this world. Her college degree was in music education. She was a talented musician and vocalist. Her college experience included trips to Europe and Russia as part of the music program at what is now Missouri State University, under the direction of one of her most beloved mentors, the late Dr. Guy Webb.

In her life, Jamie was a loving wife, a wonderful daughter, a teacher, a children’s pastor, and an accompanist on piano for state music contests for Republic band students. Through all of these roles and others, she touched many lives with her kindness.

Jamie loved her church family at the Downtown Church in Springfield. Shortly before her passing, she was really excited about taking on a leadership position with the church board. She enjoyed playing piano and singing with the church worship band during Sunday services Jamie’s church family has continually shown her and Bill love, and helped with healing and growth in their walk with God.

Jamie was preceded in death by dear grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Cantrell, her loving parents, James and Jean Morton, cousins, aunts, and her wonderful bonus family in Omaha, Nebraska and several other locations.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday November 5th, 2022 at the Downtown Church, 413 East Walnut Street in Springfield, Missouri with the Reverend Lori Lampert officiating. Immediately following the service, a reception/visitation will be held at the church. All are welcome to attend.

An additional informal celebration of Jamie’s life will take place in the coming weeks in the Salem,Missouri area for those near her hometown who cannot travel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Downtown Church in Springfield, Missouri in Jamie’s name.
