Obituary for Jack Cecil McCarver

Jack Cecil McCarver, 64, died at home in Springfield, Missouri, on March 4, 2023.

Jack was born on April 28, 1958 in Wenatchee, Washington. He was one of the ‘Apple Blossom Babies’ in his community. His parents, Marge Green and Jack McCarver preceded him in death. He attended Wenatchee schools.

He worked various jobs but had a career with Stemilt Growers, a tree fruit farm production. Jack worked his way up from picker to sorter to packing to forklift operator to maintenance team, then lead maintenance, to operations, and finally head of operations keeping all the storage facilities’ rooms at correct temp and conditions to hold fruit. Jack was chosen ‘Employee of the Year’ twice and was rewarded with a vacation to Hawaii each time.

Outside of his career, Jack enjoyed many relationships, including a daughter, Shannon (Kenny) Sweeney and grandson, Jonah Sweeney, both in Washington. Jack was married to Teresa for nearly 20 years before her passing. Meeting later in life, Jack and Darla hit it off from the start and had a happy 4 years together. They adopted a Blue Heeler pup, Frani Mae, just after they married on January 1, 2020.

Jack was an outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt deer, elk, and even bear. He often referred to his deer camps as his ‘church’. Adding to his joy of the outdoors was his motorcycle days of riding with friends and club. Jack enjoyed live concerts having seen his favorites Neil Young and Tom Petty more than once! Once he relocated to Missouri, Jack became an avid Chiefs fan and loved to watch games over and over!

To honor Jack, a party was held at which we shared his favorite foods, songs, stories, mementos and everyone dressed in a concert tee or tie-dye! Jack lives on in our hearts and memories. To honor Jack, rather than memorials or flowers, we suggest that you pick up some litter, be kind to animals, and give a homeless person some change and wish them good luck. Jack was a good person that was often misjudged and mistreated, but he loved back. Just love back!

Jack is survived by his wife Darla, daughters Shannon Sweeney (Kenny), Maryl Chapman (Roland), Stephanie and Kristi Higginbotham, son Ethan Crewse, grandkids Jonah Sweeney, Makayla, Jordan, and Grayson Carter, and family including Pam Schwartz, Nicole, Jeremiah, and Cole Eck, Ginny and Mark Bailey, Julie and Jeff Houston, Jim McCubbin, and best friends, Ed and Lauri Martin of Washington.
