Obituary for June Etter

Ima “June” (Cannon) Etter was born in October of 1948 in Chickasaw, Oklahoma to the former Matilda Lewis and Orvo Cannon. She passed away on September 17, 2022 in Springfield, Missouri.

She was raised in Stockton and Sebastopol, California. She was a graduate of Sebastopol’s Analy High School, Class of 1967, where she met her husband of 53 years, Jimmie Etter.

June was a homemaker, who devoted her life to her children and husband. June was known for her kind and gentle ways, her laughter and cooking. She enjoyed reading, word search puzzles, baking and going to the rivers and beaches. She was a constant source of encouragement to her children, and delighted in her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

June was preceded in death by her parents, Matilda (Andrew) Akin, Orvo (Sue) Cannon, sister Evelyn (Richard) Hall, brothers Lloyd and Floyd Cannon, brother in law Bill Roth and sister-in-law Linda Etter.

She is survived by the love of her life Jimmie Etter, sister Joy Roth, brother-in-law Jack Etter, and daughters Anna (Ken) Forbes, Teresa (Robert) Fischer, Lisa (Steve) Gewinner and Loura (Aaron) Hooker. She was a loving grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. She was a wonderful dog mom to “Missy.”

Friends are invited to a celebration of June’s life at Battlefield Towers on Friday, September 30th from 11:30-1:00.

Interment will be held at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, MO at a separate service.
