Obituary for Harold Max Meals

Harold Max Meals "Pops" 74, passed away Saturday November 26, 2022 at his home in Springfield, Missouri after a battle with lung cancer.

Harold was born on July 24, 1948 to Max and Betty (Powell) Meals in Paris, Missouri.

Harold was a veteran of the Vietnam War, for his service he earned a Purple Heart, Bronze Star with Valor and many other medals. He served honorably in the United States Army achieving the rank of Spec 4. After returning home he became an electrical engineer.

Harold loved enjoying the outdoors, fly fishing - tying his own flies and hunting anything from deer to mushrooms. He was a proud member of Missouri Stream Teams for 25 years. Harold absolutely loved his bird Sydney.

He was preceded in death by his father Max Cottingham Meals and his daughter Christy Lea Mitcham.

Survivors include his mother Betty Meals, sister Margaret Johnson, brother Sam Meals, son Lucas Meals and four grandchildren and many cousins.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 am Thursday December 8, 2022 in Herman H. Lohmeyer Chapel with Pastor Phillip Wright officiating. Burial wilth military honors will follow at 1 pm at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service in the funeral home.
