Obituary for Gloria Jean Swanson
Gloria Jean Swanson, of Springfield, passed away at the age of 69 years old on Thursday, November 25th, 2021 at Cox South Hospital.
She was born on January 14th, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois to Eric and Irene Swanson. Gloria graduated from Fairfax High School in Los Angeles, California and later married Tony Sherman Haycraft.
Gloria was quite fond of music from the time she was a girl. At the age of 12, she began learning how to play the acoustic guitar. Because she was left-handed, she had to turn the guitar upside-down in order to play it, but she didn’t let that stop her from learning to play the instrument beautifully. Gloria was naturally talented and she continued to play the guitar, sing, and even write her own songs. She loved sharing her music with everyone, especially during the holidays, and she was always more than happy to lead us all in joy-filled songs. Gloria will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sister, Beverly Erwin, and children, Bryan Haycraft, Chad Haycraft, and Melinda Paul.
A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00pm Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut Street in Springfield, Missouri.
