Glendon Lawrence Thomlison
September 26, 1933 ~ July 25, 2019
After 85 years of a great and colorful life, Glen Thomlison peacefully slipped away to meet his Savior as he napped in his favorite old chair. He had a combination of several health problems.
Born September 26, 1933, in his parents “soddie” in west central Nebraska, Glen was the oldest of four sons and one daughter. After graduating high school at Gering, Nebraska in 1951 he married Barbara Cox. They had two children: Lawrence (deceased) and Vicki Thomlison Boryca of Omaha Nebraska.
Glen and Patricia (McLellan) Thomlison were married in Omaha, Nebraska on February 17, 1973 and just celebrated their 46th anniversary. The couple spent many years in the commercial printing business with plants in Nebraska: Holdrege, Grand Island, North Platte, Omaha, Fremont and Louisville. God and printing were very good to them and they loved the honorable old craft of fine printing, writing and typesetting.
Retiring to Springfield Missouri to be near family, Glen became restless, earned his Commercial Driver’s License and worked as an over-the-road truck driver for several years. Later he forged lasting and dear friendships providing in-home care for Alzheimer’s patients working for Visiting Angels.
A member of Battlefield Assembly of God, Glen could be counted on to be there if the doors were open and his health would allow. He was an active participant in worship and the programs of the church.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Pearl (Sommer) Thomlison, two brothers Conrad and Jim, and his son Lawrence.
He leaves his wife, Patricia, of the home, his daughter, Vicki; one brother, Doyle Thomlison, his sister, Karen Dahlstein; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marianne and Kent Mills of Springfield. Also mourning his passing are his step-daughter, Shannon Bostwick of Denver and step-son, Eric Bostwick of Ogallala, Nebraska. Grieving also are his pets: Eskimo, Skritch; maltipoo, Popcorn and his dear Maine Coon kitty, Gracie Mae.
He had a wide circle of cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends who he cared deeply about. He loved his Springfield Farms “family” where he lived in Brookline Missouri and his other family at Battlefield Assembly of God Church.
Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home is overseeing his cremation and last wishes, one of which was that there are no funeral services. A tribute will be planned later in his church with his dearest friend, Pastor Richard Orrell, presiding.
