Obituary for Gerald Lynn Wilson

Gerald Lynn Wilson, 78, of Springfield, Missouri passed away on February 28, 2024. He was born on November 6, 1945 to Lee E. G. Wilson and Reva A. (Mason) Wilson. Gerald was the youngest of nine siblings, June, Jack, Virginia, Wayne, Roy, Billy, Erma, Leslie.

He leaves behind children Kara (Wilson) Owens (Chad Owens), Jeremy Wilson (Ally Wilson), and Brooke (Wilson) Morehead (Tyler Morehead) and five grandchildren Alexa Owens, Jackson Owens, Logan Wilson, Lizzy Wilson, and Paige Morehead.

After graduating from Willard High School in 1963, he joined the Navy and served four years on active duty. After his active duty service he remained in the Reserves for two years. Following his military service he pursued a career with the Railroad. Beyond his professional achievements, he was also a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge.

In his free time, Gerald enjoyed anything he could tinker with. He had a passion for restoring old clocks, cars, and motorcycles.

A visitation to honor and remember Gerald will be held on March 5, 2024 at 9:00-10:30 am at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut St., Springfield, Missouri. A graveside service will be held at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood Rd., Springfield, Missouri at 11:00 am.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Amy Collins, who was his companion in the last years of his life.

Gerald will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love of those who went before him.
