Obituary for Gerald Eugene Simmons
Gerald Eugene Simmons, better known by loved ones as Jerry, passed away Thursday morning, April 28, 2022 peacefully sleeping in his home.
Jerry was born August 12, 1961 in Springfield, Missouri to Wilford and Bonita (Stern) Simmons. He attended Leeton High School, before moving out at the age of 16. He worked both over the road and local truck driving for over thirty years. In his free time, he never shied away from helping a friend or family member. He enjoyed the outdoors including hunting, fishing, and going to garage sales. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents Dorothy and Vernon Stern on the mother’s side, Ole and Pauline Leque on the father’s side, aunt Jeanette Reynolds, and uncle Vernon Stern, Jr.
He is survived by son Gerald Simmons of Nixa, Mo, sister Janice and brother-in-law Jack Davis of Springfield, Mo, sister Loretta and brother-in-law Jose Estebane of Springfield, Mo, and brother Robert Simmons of Kansas City, Mo, nephew Curtis and wife Amanda Prince of Springfield, Mo, niece Misty Prince of Springfield, Mo, nephew Jose Estebane of Springfield, Mo, niece Jessica and husband Travis Cobb of Willard, Mo, and Maria and husband Jason Sanders of Branson, Mo, nephews James and Robert Luckinbill of Kansas City, Mo.
Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday May 6, 2022 at Macedonia Baptist Church, 3110 W. Sunshine Street Springfield, Missouri.
