Obituary for Eva Ruth Brown

Eva Brown, born December 24, 1941 in Cabool, Missouri, peacefully passed away on February 29, 2024, in Springfield, Missouri. She spent her formative years growing up on a farm in Cabool, where she developed a deep connection to the land and learned the values of hard work, resilience, and compassion.

Eva dedicated over 30 years of her life to teaching, leaving a lasting impact on countless students and colleagues. Her passion for education touched the lives of many and will be remembered fondly by all who knew her. She herself was a student as well, graduating high school from Cabool, MO in 1959; SMS in 1964 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education, and in 1983 with a Master of Arts in Education.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Ruth Wilson, her brother, Dick Wilson, and her two sons, Layne and Gene Brown. She is survived by her loving husband of over 60 years, Bill Brown, her sister Nancye Akers (and husband Dennis), sister Marie Griffin and sister-in-law Maria Wilson. She is also survived by her two daughters, Jennifer Johnson (and husband Howard), Elizabeth Hicks (and husband Tim), along with multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom cherished her dearly. (Each one was Grandma Evie’s or Aunt Eva T’s favorite!)

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 3:00 pm. Visitation will take place from 2:00 to 3:00 pm at Nixa Aldersgate Church, located at 460 Aldersgate Drive, Nixa, Missouri, 65714.
