Obituary for Erma Jean Kahler (Jarman)

Erma Jean (Jarman) Kahler was born July 18, 1931, to Clara and Roy Jarman in Bolivar, Missouri and passed away on January 16, 2022.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lester and Roy, Jr.; sister, Betty Stephens Smith; grandson, Ryan Kahler; and great granddaughter, Celia Kifer.

Erma is survived by her husband of almost 72 years, Bill Kahler; children, Diana Jones, Gary (Elaine) Kahler, Susan (Joe) Dial, Pam (Jeff) Michael, Jeff (Lisa) Kahler and Clint Kahler (Fiancé, Heather Broyles); 13 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Erma grew up in Bolivar and lived there with her family until they moved to Springfield where they have lived for the past 50 plus years. Having 6 children, she was busy with their activities and was very involved with her many grandchildren. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved watching them play on television. She was a great cook, excellent seamstress and always has beautiful flowers both in her garden and inside her home. Her home was the gathering place for family and friends, and she had a pot of coffee ready for anyone who stopped by. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

Special thanks to Cedarhurst and Seasons Hospice for taking wonderful care of her.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, January 21, 2022, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 South Southwood in Springfield, Missouri with Chaplain Gene Gibbons officiating. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home in Springfield.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Seasons Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.
