Obituary for Dwight Jacob Julius Haller

Dwight Jacob Julius Haller, 68, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on February 18, 2019, at his home, of natural causes.

Dwight was born on February 2, 1951 in St. Louis, Missouri to Arthur Haller and Hazel Haller (Thebeau).

Dwight’s first and greatest love was fishing. Whether it was the crappie and white bass of Stockton Lake, to the big fish and boating of Key West. After a long hard week, the boat would be packed with bait and supplies and headed to Stockton Lake, where he, his dad Art, and brother Don would fish till after dark, and then back out before first light. Fishing took him to a whole different world where the pressures of everyday life no longer had a place. His mother Hazel would always have meals fixed when they arrived back at the home as she had done all their lives. His fondness for fishing carried down so far as to have taken his baby daughter, and her potty chair, out on the boat with him for days in the sun.

He also loved making custom keepsake furniture for his children and grandchildren. He shared his skills of wood working and tools with both his son and daughter, making them both self-sufficient in the world of construction. His son, Todd, being a working superintendent with Nabholz Construction, working on the Wonders of Wildlife and the Ozark Mill projects. His daughter, Sarah, a very active part in the management of her fiancé’s Smoot Flooring business.

Dwight shared a special closeness with his mother and father as the first child born after Art’s return form his Army service, his birth was the start of a happier time. He shared not only a love of fishing with his father, but a love of garage sales with his mother. He also was instrumental in the building of their permanent home in Stockton, MO.

Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Hazel Haller; his dear spouse, Carla Haller, whom had died of cancer 16 years earlier; and his brothers Donald Haller and Arthur Haller, Jr.

Dwight is survived by his children, Sarah Mychal Huffman and Todd Alan Haller; his grandchildren, Kaleb Krejci, Taylor Huffman, and Gavin Huffman; his sister, Hazel Hughes; his brother, Darrell Haller; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
