Obituary for Dorothy Mae Gilcrease (Clancy)

Dorothy Gilcrease was a vibrant and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved life. Dorothy was known for her big heart, warm hospitality, always having a good time, and a full candy jar. At 101 years old, she was blessed with the special relationships she had with each of her 5 children, 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren. But her real magic was in how truly loved she made each person feel. A fierce woman of faith, Dorothy was never without a rosary, prayer card, or bottle of holy water.

As promised by her faith, Dorothy anxiously awaited meeting her family and friends who preceded her in death: her father (John “Pa” Clancy), mother (Josephine McCarthy), husband (Walter Gilcrease), son (Wally Gilcrease), sister (Margaret Minster Gallia), brother (Robert Clancy), sister-in-law (Rosalee Clancy), and many friends.

She is survived by her four children Jody (Bob) Frank, Peggy Piekarski, David Gilcrease, and De (Ali) Dashtipour, and all those who sat at her table and shared laughs, and a delicious meal.

A visitation service is scheduled for 10:00 am on Thursday, September 15th at St. Agnes Cathedral: 533 S Jefferson Ave
Springfield, MO 65806, followed by her funeral mass at 11:00 am, and luncheon at 2:00 pm.

Flowers are appreciated and can be delivered to St. Agnes Parish Office or in lieu of flowers donate to the Native American Heritage Association at: https://www.naha-inc.org/
