Obituary for Doris Maxine Reed
Doris Maxine Reed, age 78, passed from this earth on Monday July 8, 2019 at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, MO after a sudden illness.
Doris was born on March 17, 1941 to Wilbert and Bessie (McDowell) Keith in Rockport, IL. She was the third of five children.
Doris grew up on a farm with her parents, two older brothers and two younger sisters. She graduated from Bluffs High School in 1959.
Doris moved to Springfield, MO in 1980 where she raised her three children; sons Brian Keith and Vince Reed, and daughter Cindy Reed.
She began working at Greene Haven Nursing Home in 1983. While working there, Doris attended Ozarks Technical Community College. She was on the Deans List both years she attended and graduated with an Associate's Degree in Bookkeeping. She worked at the nursing home for 23 years until she retired in 2006.
Doris's passion was her family and God. She loved spending time with her three grandchildren; Chris Keith, Michelle Keith and Breanna Keith whenever possible. She also had 10 great grandchildren that she absolutely adored. She devoted much of her time to bible study and prayer, while listening to gospel music.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert and Bessie Keith, her brothers Clyde and Wilbert Keith and sister Barbara (Keith) Thomas.
In addition to her children, she is survived by her sister Linda Shive, 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Doris was many things to many people but most importantly, she was a good, kind, caring woman. She was strong and independent and did everything in her power to provide a good life for her family.
Visitation will be held from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut Street, Springfield, Missouri.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, July 19, 2019 in the Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Chapel with Reverend Tom Maples officiating. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Springfield.
