Obituary for Donna Jo Waters (Lindsey)

Fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church, Donna Hohgrefe Waters, 87, passed away on August 24th, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Donna is survived by her beloved husband, Don Waters; children, Steve Hohgrefe (Angela Cave), Tim Hohgrefe, and Suzy (David) Streeter; grandchildren, Lindsey (Ray) McIntyre, Molly (Alec) Braun, Genevieve Streeter, Mark Streeter, and Elle Hohgrefe; great grandchildren, Leo McIntyre, Marleigh Hohgrefe, and Lyla Braun; brother, Gordon Lindsey (Micheal McConeghy); loving and wonderful friends and extended family, Kathryn (Shane) Ballard, Kevin (Renee) Waters; grandchildren, Garrett Ballard, Calvin, Cassandra, and Nathaniel Waters, and Ryan and Megan Cave.

Donna was preceded in death by husband Ron Hohgrefe (1983), parents, Lloyd D. and Genevieve Lindsey, and brother, Lloyd Lindsey.

Donna was a wonderful caring person who always put the needs of her family before her own. She faced every challenge in her life with her faith first. Donna volunteered for many organizations and charities – St. Vincent De Paul, Crosslines, LifeHouse, The Kitchen, Stephen Ministries, St. Jude’s Guild, and so many other needs at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish. She always connected herself to a “Martha’s heart”, working to help others, but always striving for a “Mary’s heart”. She was an exceptional employee and friend to many at St. John’s Hospital for 24 years.

She loved big dinners with her family and working in her beautiful flower gardens. And oh could she dance! When she and Don hit the dance floor all eyes were upon them.

A Visitation will be held from 10:30 am to 11:30 am on Monday, August 28th, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church: 2200 W. Republic Road Springfield, MO 65807. The Funeral Mass will begin at 11:30 am, Monday, August 28th, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, with The Most Reverend Bishop Edward M. Rice, Msgr. Thomas Reidy, and Fr. Thomas Kiefer celebrating the services. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, in Springfield, Missouri.
