Obituary for Donna Marlene Foster (West)

Donna Marlene Foster passed away at her home near Marshfield, Missouri, on Monday, March 11, 2024, surrounded by her family.

Donna was born to Gerald West and Patricia Grace (Wegeng) West on January 22, 1957, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was united in the Sacrament of Matrimony to Gerard (Jay) William Foster on December 1, 1979.

Donna is survived by her mother, Grace West, of Norborne, MO, and by her beloved husband Jay, their four children, Jarrod, Justin, Joseph and Emelie, and 17 grandchildren: Jarrod and Kim Foster, Brookfield, MO and children, John, Luke, Jude and Liam. Justin and Staci Foster, Troy, MO and children Claire, Andrew, Sutton and Everleigh. Joseph and Heather Foster, Willard, MO, and children, Bella, Joseph Jr., Patrick, Lillian, Gabriel, Leo and Juliet. Emelie and Joshua Carter, Marshfield, MO and children Elijah and Blaise. She is also survived by her dear sister Deanna Brownley, who spent the last two and a half months caring for Donna during her final battle with cancer. Other survivors include sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father, and sister-in-law, Betsy Fiehler.

Donna was reared and educated in Carrollton, MO, graduating from Carrollton High School in 1975. She attended Northwest Missouri State University and graduated with honors in 1979, with a B.S. in Elementary Education and a minor in art. She was a student teacher at Norborne Elementary School and the following year taught second grade there.

She dedicated her time to homemaking, homeschooling her children, and ensuring her home was welcoming to family and friends, always having something ready to eat in the kitchen.

Donna was very creative, working in a variety of media, including oil, watercolors, pastels, mosaics and mixed media. She also enjoyed piecing quilts, crocheting and gardening.

She spent many summers vacationing with her family at Table Rock Lake, enjoying time out in a boat, catching fish with Jay.

Donna joined the Catholic Church shortly after her marriage, although she had an attraction to the Catholic Faith since childhood. She was a member of Queen of All Saints Chapel in Springfield, MO. She lived out her faith in all that she did and had a particular devotion to the Rosary and Our Lady.

Donna was very strong and survived 7 years after being diagnosed with cancer.

Funeral Mass:
Saturday, Mar 16th at 10:00 am

Reception after burial:
Approximate time 1:00 back at Queen of All Saints hall (in the Church basement).
