Obituary for Dennis Arnold Pier

Dennis A. Pier, 74, Alton, Missouri and longtime resident of Jackson, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, March 29th 2023 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.

He was born on May 18th, 1948 in Jackson, Michigan to Henry and Vivian (Rice) Pier. He attended Michigan Center schools. Mr. Pier was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served his country in the Navy and worked as a boiler man. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal along with the Vietnam Service Medal.

Mr. Pier was a supervisor and machine builder while working for Clark Equipment, Way Baking Co. and Lematic Inc. He enjoyed watching Michigan football, basketball, building projects on his farm and attending to his animals. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Deborah Pier, Phyllis Pier, Victoria Emmel and niece Dianna Fisher.

He is survived by his children, Dennis (Cynthia) Pier, Denise Pier, Carl (Tamara) Pier, and Deborah Pier, as well as grandchildren Anthony, Tyler, Gavin, Grant, Nicole, Kaitlyn, Conner and Madeline.

He is also survived by sisters Patricia (Raymond) Miller, Nancy Slack, Valoree (David) Iovannone, brother Henry (Johnalee) Pier, as well as many special nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services with military honors will be held on Friday, April 21st at 10:00 a.m. at the Great Lakes National Cemetery located at 4200 Belford Road, Holly, MI.

A memorial and luncheon will be held on Saturday, April 22nd, from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the American Legion Rose City Post located at 1190 Falahee Rd, Jackson, MI.
