Obituary for David Charles Myers

David Charles Myers, 63, of Fair Grove, MO, passed away April 2, 2023, in St. Louis, MO, following a long illness.

David was born October 10, 1959, in Springfield, MO, to Sandra Leah (Farr) and Jimmie Carl Myers. He attended school in Springfield, MO, until 1971 when his family moved to Republic, MO. He graduated from Republic High School in 1977.

David was a Master Mason in University Lodge #683, Springfield, MO. He later became a dual member of Mount Olive Lodge #439, Fordland, MO. He proudly worked alongside his brothers to serve his community. Being a lodge member was one of his proudest achievements.

David loved learning new things, especially if there was a quirky challenge involved. Through the years; he mastered the unicycle, became a champion at Putt-Putt, regularly bowled a 300 on his bowling teams, and finally did manage to break that board in the garage with his bare hand. His budding career as a pool player came to an early end, however, when our mother finally had had enough and ordered the pool table be removed from her family room.

Motorcycles were one of his greatest passions. He spent untold hours riding his dirt bike at Chadwick with his family and friends. He even sometimes volunteered to go first on the trails, saving others (his sister) from the dreaded giant spiders who had chosen to build their webs across the path.

David is survived by his sister, Melinda (David Bewley), his aunt Patricia Farr Bowman, his cousins Margaret Mercer (William) and Trina Keeler (Chet) and their families. He is preceded in death by his parents, Sandra and Jimmie Myers.

A Memorial Service will be held at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut Street, Springfield, Missouri at 1:30 pm on April 28, 2023.

David was a generous, loving soul who would give the shirt off his back to help a friend. He never met a person or an animal he didn’t like.

He will be sorely missed.
