Obituary for David Dean Moore Sr.
David Dean Moore, Sr.
Saginaw, Michigan
March 2, 1945- November 2, 2019
David Dean Moore Sr. passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of November 2nd with family at
his bedside. His last days were spent at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO where the staff cared for his
entire family with great skill and compassion.
David was born on March 2, 1945 in Weidman, MI on his grandparents’ farm which always remained a
sacred and beloved place in his life. His early days were spent in the company of his two sisters, Judy &
Mary, and together they were the joy of the extended family.
David graduated from Beal City High School in 1963. He then studied at Ferris State University to be a
tool and die machinist, which eventually led him into his long-term career with General Motors as a tool
inspector. He also took great pride in all his years of elected service as a UAW Committeeman.
David had five children who all adored him and they surrounded him in his final weeks and days. Debbie
Mikkelson, Pam Hamilton and husband Craig, David Moore Jr., Tisha Moore, and Trevis Moore. He also
has four grandchildren and six great grandchildren who delighted him, entertained him, and always
brought a smile to his face. David is also survived by his sister, Mary Lou Rowell and husband Gail,
brother in-law Bobby Battle, special friends, Marianne (Moore) Schmid & Carol (Moore) Weisenberger,
as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Marion Moore and sister Judy Battle.
David will be remembered for his warm smile, his easy laugh, his positive attitude, and his incredible
generosity and kindness. He always made others feel welcome and special. David doted on his little
Pomeranians and they were never far from his side. He loved country music and enjoyed dancing and
singing whenever possible. David was an All-Sport enthusiast, who knew the scores for dozens of teams,
especially his favorite team, the University of Michigan Wolverines. Go Blue!
David had always received world-class medical care at the University of Michigan Cardiovascular Center
and we credit his longevity and heart health to their excellent care. He was very proud of the
contributions he has made to clinical research and improving the lives of others with heart disease.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memoriam may be made to University of Michigan Samuel and Jean
Frankel Cardiovascular Center or to the Michigan Humane Society. A Celebration of Life will be held in
early 2020 in mid-Michigan with details to follow.
