Daryl Leigh Pennington of Springfield, Missouri passed away at the age of 40 on Friday March 13th, 2020 in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

Daryl was born August 15th, 1979 in Springfield, Missouri to Ray and Sharon Pennington. Daryl is survived by his wife Jennifer Pennington, his daughter Lauren Pennington, his mother Sharon Pennington, his sister Jennifer Hogan (and husband Darren), his brother David Pennington (and wife Amy), his brother Daniel Pennington, nephews Ethan Pennington, Aidan Pennington, and Skylar Hogan, nieces Haven Salinas and Taylor Hogan, and his beloved dogs Charlie and Josie.

After high school, Daryl earned his EMT certification and then went on to graduate from Southwest Baptist University’s school of Nursing in 2007. He earned his Master’s degree in Nursing from Missouri State University in 2010. He practiced as a nurse anesthetist for 9 years in Lebanon, MO, Kansas City, MO, Overland Park, KS, and Lee’s Summit, MO. Daryl took pride in his profession and was dedicated to his work. He was respected by his colleagues, and was often requested to care for their loved ones.

Daryl married Jennifer Skeins on April 20, 2012. Together they shared a love of friends, family, and the Kansas City Chiefs. Daryl was a dedicated husband and father. He was passionate about his many interests and excelled at everything he put his hand to. He was a skilled chef and an ultimate pit master. He loved to garden and was a master of construction and architecture. He had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed traveling, hunting, roller-coasters, white water rafting, parasailing and riding waves at the beach. He enjoyed combining his love of football and friendship as a season ticket holder for the Kansas City Chiefs where he took tailgating to the next level. Always quick with a grin and quicker with a comeback he took care of those closest to him and was always the first to offer a helping hand. Above all, he valued time with his family, friends and dogs. He is truly missed.

A private burial will be held for immediate family at Resurrection Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri. We welcome friends and family to help us celebrate Daryl’s life at a memorial to be held on a future date.
