Obituary for Daniel Keith Upchurch

Daniel "Keith" Upchurch, age 42, formerly of Cape Girardeau, left this life on June 25, 2022, in Springfield, MO.

Keith was born November 18, 1979, in Poplar Bluff, MO to Cindy and Yancey (stepfather) Magill. In 1990 he was adopted and raised with his youngest sister Rachel, by Danny and Kathleen (Kathy) Upchurch in Cape Girardeau. As a young adult he moved to Springfield, MO.

Keith was blessed with brilliance and took great pride in helping others. He would do just about anything to make someone smile, even when he was struggling or in pain. He was an incredibly gifted artist and used his talent on projects that benefited the homeless community. He poured his heart and soul into his projects and always exceeded greatness in all he pursued, but his proudest accomplishment was his son, Liam.

Keith leaves behind family and friends that will treasure his kindness, talent, humor, and wit. He will be remembered for all the good that he did and not for the mistakes that he made. He was loved and will be greatly missed.

Keith is survived by his beloved only child, Liam; birth parents, Cindy and Yancey Magill; adopted mother, Kathy Upchurch; two brothers, Jon Upchurch and Brandon Magill; three sisters, Rachel Upchurch Coomer, Kassie Upchurch, and Mindy Alexander and other extended family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Danny Upchurch; brother, Joshua Stallings; and sister, Jennifer Magill.

The family had Keith privately cremated with no service. So, I would like to close with lyrics from a song Keith said sang to his soul...

"When my time comes forget the wrong that I've done...
Help me leave behind some reason to be missed."
"When you're feeling empty keep me in your memory...
Leave out the rest!"
