Obituary for Connie Saladin

Connie Saladin, 92, of Wichita, KS (formally of Springfield, MO) peacefully passed away on January 18th, surrounded by loved ones, after a brief illness.

Connie was born on October 28, 1931 to Clarence and Dorothy Ferrier in the bustling city of Sand Springs, Oklahoma. After a few years her father took a job as an Auditor for Continental Oil Company in Ponca City during WWlI, where her family housed and fed British pilots stationed locally for aerial training. She had fond memories, friendships formed and told many emotional stories of these brave soldiers. After graduation from Ponca City High in 1949 Connie pursued a degree in Secretarial Studies.

Connie's career began at the Continental Oil Company in Ponca City, OK. She married in 1953 and had her first child, Toni Lynn Shaw that marriage ended in divorce.

In 1962, Connie and Toni met Jim Saladin of Wewoka, OK, they married and had a child, Thomas James in 1966. A few years later the family moved to Wichita, KS where Connie worked for the law firm of Morris, Lang, Evan and Brock until 1972 when they moved to Springfield, MO.

Connie retired in 1998 after 26 years as the Chief Deputy Clerk for the Missouri State Court of Appeals. Connie enjoyed playing golf, trips to Las Vegas (she loved the one arm bandits right up to the end), dancing, solving daily crossword puzzles and was an active member of the Methodist Church. Retirement allowed her time to spoil her 6 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling with family and was always ready to help when needed. Her enchanting smile and positive outlook were proof of a life well lived. Connie was predeceased in death by her parents, Clarence & Dorothy Ferrier, her older sister Norma Marie, who was tragically killed in a car accident at age 14. Connie held fond memories of her sister and will be very happy to be reunited with her along with her husband, Jim Saladin.

Connie is survived by her two children, Toni Lynn Barker and Thomas James Saladin (Carol); six grandchildren Kam Brannan (Randy), Kellie Barker, Jason Barker (Jessica), Chelsea Paskell (Matt), Parker Saladin, and Trayton Saladin; and five great grandchildren, Cheyenne Brannan, Silas Barker, Sullivan Barker, Julian Barker and Quinn Paskell.

There will be graveside service at 1 pm Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
