Obituary for Christopher Lee Olsen

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Christopher Olsen, who left us quietly on January 18, 2024. Born in September 1967, Chris was cherished by all who knew him for his kindness, generosity, and deep love for his family that will continue to inspire those he touched.

Chris leaves behind his loving siblings, Erika Uhler, Daniel Olsen, Robin Wittenmyer, and Cynthia Olsen. He also leaves behind his nephew Kenneth Uhler and his nieces, Christiana Wittenmyer Harder and Abigail Wittenmyer. His brothers-in-law, Kenneth Uhler and Chris Wittenmyer, will also miss him greatly. Chris is predeceased by his father, Robert Olsen, and his mother, Darlene Hawkins Olsen, who will now welcome him into eternity.

A 1985 graduate of Glenbard North High School, in Carol Stream IL, Chris went on to serve his country with distinction in the United States Army. He deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Africa as a soldier and as a DOD contractor. Following his time in the Army, Chris attended and graduated from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale IL; and, he continued to serve his nation as a National Guardsman.

A majority of Chris’ career was as a mechanic on large vehicles and commercial aircraft. He lived in the suburbs of Miami FL for much of his adult life; however, Chris had recently moved to Springfield MO to take on a new job and new challenges as an aircraft mechanic with Envoy Air. He had also started construction on a new house in the Branson MO area where he had hoped to retire someday.

Chris found joy in the simple pleasures of life, riding his Harley-Davidson, playing guitar, and traveling throughout Asia, South America, and the Caribbean.

A man of character and compassion, Chris supported causes close to his heart, such as the Wounded Warrior Project, and his actions reflected his deep empathy for others. Chris left a legacy marked by kindness, generosity, and a deep love for his family.

While we mourn his passing, we also celebrate his life, remembering all the moments of joy and love he shared with us. His spirit lives on in our hearts, and the stories we will continue to share about him.

We love you Chris!
