Obituary for Charles Dudley Martin

CHARLES DUDLEY MARTIN, who practiced law in Springfield Missouri for 50 years, passed away at home on April 11, 2020, at the age of 86.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Virginia Kay, his son Ross Adam Martin (Laura), his daughter Deborah Kay DeMan (Robert), and his two granddaughters, Brianna and Sophia DeMan.

Dudley went into the practice of law in order to help people. His most rewarding work was serving those who couldn’t afford the justice they deserved. He was also very proud of his work for Robert Stroud, “The Birdman of Alcatraz”.

Dudley was civic minded and served on numerous boards. One of his favorites was the Greene County Library Board because Dudley never saw a book he didn’t like. He was also passionate about politics and served the Democratic Party throughout his life.

The family hopes that those who knew Dudley will join them in remembering his quick wit, intellect, and the good times they shared.

No wake, visitation, or funeral is planned. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make memorial contributions in Dudley’s name to The Alzheimer’s Association, 3645 South Avenue Springfield, Missouri, 65807.
