It is with great sadness and joy that we share the news that our beloved mother Carmen Victoria Reid, age 90, has left this life on Friday, September 8, 2023, to join the church triumphant. Being reunited with her beloved husband, James R. Reid, Jr who passed from this world August 1994.

Victoria was born September 4, 1933, in Alamosa, Colorado to Jose Alfredo & Teresita Maria Martinez. She grew up in Chama, New Mexico with her brother, Fred & three sisters, Cleo, Vera, and Liz. She made her home in Colorado Springs until she met the love of her life, James R. Reid, Jr. at a dance social near Fort Carson, Colorado where he was stationed as a young soldier.

She enjoyed a full life being a military wife and raising her family, being a teacher and an active member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Springfield since 1977. Victoria taught PSR for many years and loved sharing her faith with people interested in becoming Catholic through the RICA program. She was also a regular substitute teacher at Immaculate Conception Church.

Victoria loved to travel, play sports, sing & play piano, she was an avid reader of John Grisham novels and in her retirement loved to do puzzles.

Her family consists of three sons, James & Ann Reid, of Republic, Anthony Reid, Springfield, Fred & Mary Reid, Springfield and daughter Carmen Whorley & her husband, Steven of Springfield.

Victoria was blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren who will dearly miss her smile, laughter, and generous love.

Visitation will be held from 10:30am-11:30am on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Springfield where her Funeral Mass will begin at 11:30am with Fr. Tom Kiefer officiating. Burial will follow at 1:00pm in Springfield National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations to be made to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in her memory.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut Street in Springfield, Missouri.
