Obituary for Bobby Joe Tate Sr.
Bobby J. Tate, Sr., age 84, of Springfield, Missouri passed away Saturday, September 24th, 2022, at his home.
He was born in Springfield, Missouri on September 18, 1938, to Jim & Lilly Tate of Springfield.
Bobby was united in marriage to Rose Mary Boyle of Colorado Springs, Colorado on February 14th, 1958. From this marriage they had three children, Bobby, Jr., Vicki and Harold.
He worked as the manager of Montgomery Wards until 1970, after that he owned and operated two service stations in Springfield until they closed in 1997. He then worked for O’Reilly Auto Parts as a delivery driver until he retired around 2011.
Bobby loved spending time watching the St. Louis Cardinals play ball, hunting, fishing, playing his guitars, making music, traveling, and was a wonderful storyteller.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim & Lilly Tate; daughter, Vicki Tate Hughes; and a great grandbaby, Brylen Glossip.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Rose Mary Tate of Springfield, Missouri; son, Bobby (Becky) Tate, Jr. of Springfield, Missouri; son, Harold Tate of Port Richey, Florida; brother, Gary (Cindy) Tate of Willard, Missouri; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; nephews, nieces, and cousins. He will be missed by all.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 11:00am until 2:00pm on Saturday, October 1st, 2022, at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut Street in Springfield, Missouri.
