Obituary for Bill Wayne Bridges

Bill Wayne Bridges passed away in his home on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, after a 5 month battle with an aggressive form of brain cancer. He was 59 years old.

Bill was born May 23, 1961 in Springfield, Missouri to Chester and Lora Bridges. He attended Marion C. Early high school and received his GED from OTC. He worked as a delivery driver for Taylor & Sale Supply Co, then worked in the plastic department at Zenith until they closed their Springfield plant. Bill worked as a painter’s helper at Loren Cook Company for 27 years.

He met Debbie Simmons while cruising Kearney Street and they were married May 21, 1983. They were married for 29 years and had 3 children together. Bill was very much a family man and enjoyed spending time with his aunts, uncles, and cousins, and his nephew, Steve Dunnagan and his family. He was a very involved father and grandfather and his kids were always his top priority. He never missed one of their important events. Bill enjoyed working on his ’57 Chevy (when he had the time and money) and he loved riding his Indian motorcycle, hence the nickname his friends gave him, Indian Bill. He never missed a Chiefs game and was a very enthusiastic fan. Bill had so many wonderful friends; he loved to spend time with them. He truly never met a stranger.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gene Dunnagan; sisters, Sandy and Debbie Dunnagan; cousin, Tommy Bridges, and several beloved aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his children, Ciji Partlow and spouse Tyler; Cienna Bridges and partner Todd Cantrell; and Dylan Bridges and partner Bailey Louallen; beloved grandsons Owen and Corbin Partlow; Uncle Chuck and Aunt Nancy Bridges, Uncle Mike Walker Sr, several cousins and his many well-loved friends.

Life will never be the same or quite as happy without Bill, but we know he’d tell us “it’s all good” and that he’s watching over all of us. We know you’re cruisin’ all the golden roads up above now, Bill. Rest easy.

A Memorial Visitation will he held from 5:00-7:00pm on Thursday evening, January 28, 2021 at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut Street in Springfield, Missouri.
