Obituary for Beverly Joyce Olson (Brown)

Beverly J. Olson, 91 passed away on Sept 7, 2020 while residing in The Gardens Assisted Living in Springfield, Missouri.
Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, Beverly visited with those she loved by phone and through a window during the past several months.

Though she longed for the touch of her family, she knew without reservation that she was dearly loved and the team at The Gardens took care of her physical needs daily.

Born in Detroit, Michigan on Sept 15, 1928 to William and Hazel Brown, Beverly was the youngest of 5 children.

She married Hugh Olson in 1949 and was his loving and devoted wife until his death in 2011.

Beverly gave her heart to Jesus at a revival meeting at age 11. She and Hugh raised their children, Greg and Beth in the church and modeled for them how to serve and grow as part of a connected church family. Beverly spent many happy hours as a Sunday School teacher and used her creativity to bring the stories of Jesus alive for children.
Beverly is survived by son, Greg Olson (Kim); daughter Beth Fuller (Ed); five grandchildren, Bryant Olson, Daniel Stern, Carolyn Olson, Joanna Phemister (Adam), Jesssica Mattson (Brian), and 5 great grandchildren, Sophia 12, Maddox 9, Benson 6, Logan 6, Jack 2 and Dorothy Anne (Dottie) arriving this winter.

A private memorial service for the family will be held in The Downtown Church, 413 E. Walnut, Springfield, MO. 65806 on Tuesday, Sept 15 (Beverly’s Birthday) at 10:30 am. Burial will be in the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri beside her husband, Hugh. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home in Springfield, MO.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Missouri Council of the Blind in thanks for the many hours of talking books Beverly enjoyed. www.moblind.org/how-to-help/donate.html
