Obituary for Betty Lou Byars (McReynolds)

Betty Lou Byars, age 92 of Springfield, Missouri passed away on Sunday morning, February 16, 2020 at Woodland Manor in Springfield.

She was born December 28, 1927 in Springfield, Missouri the daughter of Ben Harrison McReynolds and Christine (Griffin) McReynolds.

Betty was an Advanced Production Control Clerk for 3M for 15+ years prior to her retirement. She was a member of Grant Avenue Baptist Church in Springfield. She served at various times as past president, vice president, Secretary and Treasurer for Greene County Congress for Aging, volunteered at Cox North Hospital and at Northview Senior Center for many years. She also enjoyed her bowling.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben & Christine McReynolds; two brothers, Ben Harrison McReynolds, Jr., and George Walter McReynolds.

Betty is survived by her two sons, Steve Byars and his wife Mackie, Thomas Byars and his wife Suzanne; one daughter, Julie Cook and her husband Mike; nine grandchildren plus great grandchildren.

The family of Betty wish to thank Woodland Manor and Hospice Compassus for all of their wonderful care for their mother. May God richly bless all of the staff involved with her care.

Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 am Friday, February 21, 2020 at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut Street, Springfield, Missouri. A graveside service will be held following the visitation at 11:30 am at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Springfield, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, Betty requested donations be made to Goodwill Industries or the Salvation Army both in Springfield, Missouri.
