Obituary for Anthoney Robert Raymond

Anthoney Robert Raymond, known to some as “Noni” and to others as “Tony” passed from this life unexpectedly on November 7th, 2023 in Ozark, Missouri at the age of 39.

Anthoney was known throughout life for his larger than life smile and his ability to care for and bring joy to others. His smile could light up any space; his laughter was true and infectious with its warmth and promise of genuine friendship. It was his desire and talent to care for others and to infuse into them a bit of himself that led him to join the U.S. Army as a medic. He deployed and served in combat during Operation Iraqi Freedom from October 2007 to December 2008. He earned the following awards and citations throughout his service: Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Combat Action Badge.

After his military service, he continued to serve in the medical field, always growing in knowledge and experience. He attended Cox College in Springfield, Missouri and became a Registered Nurse. He served with excellence and compassion at Cox Medical Center South as an Emergency Room nurse, and later as a Step Down nurse, helping patients in their transition from the Intensive Care Unit. He loved working with his medical teams and viewed them more as “family” rather than colleagues.

As much as Anthoney enjoyed spreading joy to everyone he encountered, his number one priority and greatest love was being a father, provider, and protector to his two beautiful little girls: Lyla (9) and Penelope (5). His favorite superhero was Superman and he fittingly strove everyday to be “Superdad” to them.

Anthoney is survived by his mother, Maria Lalimo Armstrong, his father, Rancy Raymond; his daughters Lyla Eomera Raymond and Penelope Melu Raymond; and his seven siblings: Jiji Roxanne Jally, Limanman “Lani” Strange, M. Edward Armstrong, Keola Marshall Armstrong, SonSeri Meraminal Kennedy, Rima Armstrong Wilson, and Marvelle Leosha Armstrong. Additionally, he is survived by the many extended family members who loved him deeply, to include his Aunts, cousins, copious nieces and nephews, and his brothers and sisters in law.

Funeral Services will be held at 9:30am on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut Street in Springfield, Missouri. Burial will follow at Maple Park Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri. A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00pm at King's located at 1515 W Elfindale St, Springfield, MO 65807.
