Obituary for Andrew Wayne "Andy" Dyer

Andrew Wayne Dyer; many called him Andy, or even Drew, was born in Springfield, Missouri on January 12th, 1962. He continued to be raised in Springfield, where he was given a Catholic education and later graduated from Central High school in the Class of 1980.

Mid-Morning of March 20, 2023, at age 61, he was accompanied by family as he peacefully left this life in his Clever home. He was diagnosed with Stage 4 Brain Cancer in late January of 2022. While this Cancer was unbeatable, Andy still managed to pass with remarkable victories. His gracious wife, Lisa often noted, “He never complained, not once.” She also expressed, “There were mornings when I wanted just to stay in bed but then I would look over and see him putting on his robe even on his hardest days.” Andy’s positive outlook and sense of humor always remained with him. His spirit and abundance of love gave endless strength.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Robert and Dorothy Dyer; his brother Bobby Dyer; his sister, Joyce Dyer; and his nephew, Fred Jr. Krautsch.

Left to live in his name are his wife of 36 years, Lisa (Kiser) Dyer, and his daughters, Madison “Maddie” Rose Dyer and Hailey Drew Dyer. Also mourning his loss and fondly remembering his life are his seven of nine brothers and sisters: Mike Dyer (Jan), Diana Van Dellen, Patricia “Pat” Henderson, Nancy Krautsch (Fred), Janice Northington (Doug), Pamela Stiles, and Tim Dyer. Additionally, he is survived by an extensive amount of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, In-laws, friends, and co-workers of Local Carpenters Union #978 from which he retired.

Andy was a Master Carpenter, and his hard work can be seen all over the local area. Aside from work, he enjoyed anything involving the outdoors. Most importantly, fishing, camping, and kayaking. He was an athlete, he did track in high school and later played Baseball with friends on a team known as the “Killer Crew”. He enjoyed going to the gym regularly. He had a lifetime love for dogs, including his recent yellow lab, Jasper, whom he loved spending time with. He also had a strong loyalty to the Kansas City Chiefs. However, any activity involving his wife, daughters, family, or just generally children could easily fill his day with heartfelt memories. For Andy, family always came first.

“JennyPoo” is a nickname given by Andy for his niece; Jenny would often call him “Joe Cool”. These two shared a very tight bond throughout his lifetime. Jenny often holds get-togethers that emulated some of Andy’s most precious memories growing up at his mother “Dot’s” Home. Jenny Jordan and Patricia Henderson showed an immense amount of care and support up until the end, as well as many of his closest family.

Visitation will be held on this Thursday, March 23, 2023, beginning at 1:00 PM followed by the funeral service at 2:30 PM at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Anyone who was blessed to know Andy and the undeniable love he showed are encouraged to attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome as an expression of sympathy to his wife, Lisa and his daughters. However, the family wishes from this heartbreaking loss to spread awareness of Brain Cancer in any way possible.
