Amos Edwards Evans was 78 years 3 months and 14 days old at the time of his death. Amos was born on January 29, 1943 in Springfield, MO to Alma Mae Lewis and Emmitt Evans. Amos was raised by Alma and Bill Lewis. He met the love of his life, Phyllis, and they wed on June 4, 1972 and created a large blended family.

Amos departed this life on Thursday, May 13, 2021 with his wife by his side. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Alma Lewis, Emmitt Evans, brothers, Charlie Evans, Billy Evans, Theodore Evans and James Tindle, a son, Lawrence Wayne and a son-in-law, Bill Franklin, one grandchild and one great grandchild.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, seven daughters, Sandra (Benjamin) Robeson, Rachel (Kevin) DeLoach, Susan (Robert) White, Cindy Evans, Amy (Larry) England, Pam (Gale) Richey and Teresa Franklin; four sons, Wayne Peterson, Amos “Butch” (Kerry) Evans, Keith Peterson and Darron Peterson along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

At the age of fifteen he learned how to roof and went on to own A&S Roofing and roofed until he retired. He loved to fish, hunt, watch Nascar, and go to flea markets. He will be remembered for his unique sense of humor, joking around and his positive outlook on life. Like in the song, he was the father he didn’t have to be. He was well known by many and will be dearly missed. Memorial service information can be obtained by contacting the family.
