Obituary for Amanda Helene Sanders

Amanda Helene Sanders, 46, Nixa, Missouri, passed away at 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, in Mercy Hospital after a 13-year battle with POEMS Syndrome; she was surrounded by her loving family. Mandy was born on April 12, 1977, to Joan Ward and the late Larry Ward. She graduated from Glendale High School, Southwest Missouri State University, and Cox College. She married Michael Sanders on November 5, 2005, and has two sons, Michael Ward and Brayden Sanders. Mandy worked in various positions in Mercy Hospital's lab for 18 years. She was a devoted supporter of her sons as they participated in Nixa High School’s bowling, swimming, debate, and Chamber Choir programs. She was an avid reader and member of the Books & Baristas Book Club; for many years she enjoyed bowling.

Mandy was preceded in death by her father, Larry Ward; her mother-in-law, Barbara Sanders; Brother-in-law, Joseph Donahue; and her beloved niece, Natalie Murphy-Ward.

She is survived by her husband, Mike; sons Michael and Brady; mother, Joan; sisters, Rebecca Lovekamp and Carolyn Murphy; brother, Steven; father-in-law, Rodney Sanders; brothers-in-law, Marty (Jan) and Matthew (Sarah) Sanders; sisters-in-law, Mary Donahue and Missy Sanders; and many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends.

Mass in celebration of Mandy's life will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2200 W. Republic Rd., Springfield, under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home.

Honoring Mandy's wishes her body was donated to further medical education and research.

Mandy’s family is grateful to everyone who has supported them through her final illness with their prayers, caring thoughts, and kindness.
