Obituary for Alyce Marie Stoll

Alyce Marie (Wilds) Stoll entered the gates of heaven on February 24, 2024. While on earth, she touched many lives with her sincere care, compassion, and love. The daughter of Merie Elmer Wilds and Hollis Manette Seeman, Alyce was born on Oct.12, 1942, in Wahoo, Nebraska. After graduating from Richmond High School in 1959, she worked in the accounting department of the Lake City Ammunition Plant in Independence, Mo. Following her job at Lake City, she served as a bookkeeper for an auto dealership in Richmond. Alyce has two daughters, Tami Dawn (Minnick) Woods, and Kristi Lyn (Minnick) Allnutt and husband Sandy, both of Richmond, from her previous marriage. On June 1, 1975, Alyce married Robert Stoll. Together, they have two sons, Ryan Brandon Stoll of Branson, Mo., and Rodney Brett Stoll of Springfield, Mo. Alyce loved children and caring for them. She and Robert fostered more than 150 children ranging in age from newborn to five over the course of 25 years. Alyce cared for each as if he/she was her own child.

They adopted four of the children they fostered: Micheal Timothy Stoll of Springfield, Mo., Adam Michael Stoll of Springfield, Mo., Cliff Andrew Stoll of Springfield, Mo., and James Robert Stoll of Springfield, Mo. Alyce worked for the Division of Family Services as a resource coordinator for nine years while she still fostered. She jumped at the chance of helping others whenever she could and enjoyed watching her boys play soccer and football. Alyce was a Kansas City Royals fan, watching every game she could on TV, but most of all she was a Kansas City Chiefs aficionado and especially enjoyed watching the Chiefs win the Super Bowl. Not that she had a lot of spare time, but she carved out every spare second to lovingly cross-stitch Christmas stockings for each kid and grandkid. At the end of the day when all the caretaking was done, she smiled as she read books and news on her iPhone or tablet but attentively stood by and waited just in case someone needed a ride or help.

Alyce was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and friend. If any were sick or down, she would always sing “You Are My Sunshine” or “How Much is That Doggie in the Window?” to make them feel a little better. She had the biggest heart and never wanted to see anyone hurt. Alyce loved God first and was active in her church, Wesley United Methodist. She helped with vacation bible school and her Sunday school class and attended services every Sunday. Alyce lived and loved commendably. No doubt she was greeted with these words in heaven: “Well done, good and faithful servant!”

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Janet Lee Judd. Alyce is survived by her husband, Robert; daughters; Kristi and Tami, sons; Ryan, Rodney, Michael, Cliff, Adam and James, six grandchildren; Aaron (Candace) Leathers, Amber (Chris) Daily, Dustin (Nicole) Yoakum, Kristopher (Alyssa) Allnutt, Andrea Woods and Ada Stoll-Noack, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A Celebration of Alyce’s Life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 922 W. Republic Road, Springfield, Missouri 65807. There will be a reception following the Memorial Celebration at the church. The burial will take place at a time yet to be determined in Blackburn, Mo. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home in Springfield, Missouri.
