Obituary for Alice Faye Crone (Selph)

Alice Faye Crone passed away on January 23, 2021, in her home where she lived with Thomas Rudy Crone, her husband of 53 years. She is survived by her two children, Michael Crone and Angie Wilson, and three grandchildren Joseph, Benjamin, and Christopher. She was preceded in death by her three siblings Wayne, Marilyn, and Joyce Selph, and her mother and father Geneva and Bennett Selph.

Alice was born in Covington, Tennessee, on May 13, 1940, where she grew up on a farm with her sisters and brother and graduated from Byars-Hall High School. She helped harvest cotton on their farm, and she enjoyed the company of cousins and friends. She attended Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, where she met her husband Tom and obtained a BA in Christian Education. She worked several jobs during their marriage, but her primary role was in the home as a mother and homemaker. She loved to sew her own clothes and clothes for her daughter. She taught Sunday School to young children a number of years, a role she greatly enjoyed.

Alice loved her family deeply, including her dogs that she counted almost as dear. After a stroke in 2019, she worked hard in physical therapy to regain her strength and speech, and her quick wit often sent her into fits of giggles. Her husband Tom devoted himself to caring for her every day, and they enjoyed spending time on their deck watching the dogs, birds, and deer. She loved gospel music and held firm to her faith in Jesus Christ. She will be enormously missed.

Graveside services will be at 10 am Thursday January 28, 2021 at White Chapel Memorial Gardens with Dr. Harold Carpenter officiating. No visitation is planned.
