Obituary for Agnes Marie McLean (Marak)

Agnes was born January 28, 2917. Yes, she was 102 years, 11 months and 17 days when she went to be with the Lord and all who went before her.

When she was only 6 years old, she began square dancing to the tune of her father's fiddle. He was the local fiddler and square dance caller for many years. She married Wallace McLean on May 4, 1940 and danced with her husband for 70 years until she was almost 90. She still went to watch others dance.

Agnes and Wallace had three children, Carolyn, Jerry, and Doug. They were also "Mom and Dad" to Pat and Jim.

She is in heaven with her husband of 70 years, Wallace; two sons, Jerry and Doug; brothers, Charlie, Ben, Clarence, and Lawrence; sisters, Pauline, Emily, and Edith.

She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn and Pat and her son, Jim (Sue); grandchildren, Michelle (Kurt), Erica, Heidi, Anita, Sarah (Neil), Jimmy (Kim), Johnny (Melanie) and Joey (Beth); great grandchildren, Ashley, Meredith, Ondrea (Daryl), Derikk, and Courtney; great great grandchildren, Chloe, Colton, Jessica, Cadence, Joshua, Peyton, Kathryn, Logan, Michael, Kingsley, Tanner, Izabel, and a very special great great grandson, Trenton.

Agnes made beautiful quilts, teddy bears, clowns, and any other craft she could get her hands on, worked crossword puzzles and watched Days of Our Lives and Royals baseball. We didn't visit or call her while either of these are on TV. It was a rule.

She loved to visit with her many friends and family.

She was known for her spunk, wit, and happy disposition by all who knew her. She lived in her own home with loving care from Carolyn, Michelle, and Cindy.

We will all miss her and will always remember what an amazing and grand lady she was.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am, Thursday, January 23, 2020 at St. Agnes Cathedral, 533 S. Jefferson in Springfield, with Father Lewis Hejna officiating. A Visitation will be held from 9-10 am prior to the service at the church.

Burial will be at 10 am, Friday, January 24, 2020 at the Missouri Verterans Cemetery, Springfield, MO.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
