Obituary for Harold C. Merritt

Harold C.  Merritt
Harold C. Merritt passed away on September 24, 2015. He was born in Canton, Ohio, on September 16, 1924. He was a World War II veteran as a photographer in the U.S. Navy. His strength was evidenced in his survival of heart disease and throat cancer in years past. After retirement he was a volunteer driver for Mercy Hospital cancer patients.
Harold is survived by his son Eric Merritt and wife Cindy; daughters Bonita Glenn, Debbie Norfleet, and Becki Ribaudo and husband Lenny; step-son Lee Horn and wife Penny, step-daughter Patti Affolter and husband Denny; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and his loyal poker buddies of many years.
He was preceded in death by first wife Charlene Stange, second wife Virginia Merritt, and special friend Joan Mamaux.
The family would like to thank Harold’s caregivers and Mercy Hospice for their dedication and loving care.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at Hazelwood Cemetery at 1:30 Wednesday, September 30, 2015. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to WWII Honor Flight. Permanent online condolences, photos and stories may be shared at www.hhlohmeyer.com.
