Obituary for James Edward Long

James Edward Long
James (Jim) Edward Long, 76, of Springfield, Missouri, completed peacefully his journey home with Jesus on Wednesday, December 21, 2016. He has “fought the good fight and finished the race. He has kept the faith, and his Heavenly Father has bestowed upon him the crown of righteousness.”
Jim is survived by his wife Sandy Long, daughters Tammie Adkins, Jannine Johnson, Marsha Marcinko, Vickie Munroe, other kids Shirlane Horton, Bontia Isom, Shirrie Ladd, Mary Mast, Vernon Stern and 20 loving grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren, 5 brothers, 3 sisters, nieces, nephews and extended family. Jim was a loving father, husband, grandfather, brother and friend to so many.
Jim loved to fish, hunt and garden. You could find him tinkering in his yard or garage creating many numerous woodworking projects. He also enjoyed cooking and most times he was lending a helping hand or mentoring those in needs.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, December 26, 2016 in Herman H. Lohmeyer Chapel. Funeral services for Jim will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2016 in Herman H. Lohmeyer Chapel. Committal service will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2016 in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood, Springfield, Missouri.
