Edith Virginia  Gilmartin (Worthy)
Virginia Gilmartin, age 77 of Springfield, Missouri passed away Monday, November 7, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

Edith Virginia Gilmartin was born December 23, 1938 in Springfield, Missouri a daughter of Allen and Lema (Tinsley) Worthy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband , John Gilmartin; three brothers; and one sister.

Virginia was a member of Parkcrest Baptist Church. She was a wonderful wife, and a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother to her large family. She enjoyed sewing and quilting.

She is survived by her children, Sue Ruble and husband John of Springfield, Tony Gilmartin of Springfield, Brenda Ryan and husband Doug of Fair Grove, MO, Sherri Watts and husband Andy of Walnut Grove, MO, Don Gilmartin and wife Melissa of Fair Grove, MO, Lisa Walters of Springfield, Gina Sawyer and husband Michael of Hollister, MO, and Chris Gilmartin and wife Ashley of Ozark, MO; a brother, Harvey Worthy and wife Jessie of Springfield; 39 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home in Springfield,

Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 11, 2016 at Wade Chapel Cemetery with Dr. Phillip Housley officiating. Pallbearers will be Virginia’s grandsons.
