Obituary for Stephen Michael Hunt

Stephen Michael  Hunt
Stephen Michael Hunt, 66, of Springfield, Missouri passed away at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri on November 28, 2017.

He was born on January 11, 1951 in Joplin, Missouri the son of Melvin and Eva (Newdigger) Hunt.

Michael grew up in Joplin, Missouri enjoying the lake, ROTC and playing the trumpet in the marching band. Out of high school, he managed the Fox Theatre, where he met the love of his life, Carol. His theatre career eventually brought them to St. Joseph, Missouri where they lived for 25 years and raised their 2 daughters.

He was an entrepreneur with a heart for helping those less fortunate. He loved reading and traveling, especially with Carol by his side. He has been in Springfield for 20 years enjoying being close to family and grandchildren. His most recent passion has been serving on the leadership team at Red Tree Church.

Michael was a dreamer, very generous, soft hearted and a devoted husband and father. He loved to barbecue, was a dog lover and was often known for telling corny jokes.

Michael is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter Stephanie and husband Steve Brown; daughter Ashly and husband Cameron Stelling and 4 grandchildren: Cara, Ruthie, Hudson and Blake.

He is preceded in death by his mom, dad, one sister and a brother.

Please join the family for a memorial service at Red Tree Church on Monday, December 4th, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. with family visitation following the service.
