Obituary for Diana Louise Hechler (Gambill)

Diana Louise Hechler, age 66, of Springfield, Missouri passed away Monday morning, August 7, 2017 at Magnolia Square Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Springfield.

Diana was born on March 29, 1951 in Shelbyville, Tennessee, the daughter of Robert Bradley Gambill and Ella Louise Stover.

Diana was married on June 1, 1968 to William Otto Hechler, the love of her life for 49 years.

She was a server at various restaurants for many years. She had a big green thumb, growing her plants and flowers and had a heart for loving animals. She learned how to make stained glass, and enjoyed her yard sales, garage sales, flea markets, with a desire for collecting Fire King dishware, especially the Jadeite variety. Most of all she loved her family and looked forward to those family gatherings.

Diana is survived by her husband of 49 years, William “Bill” Hechler of the home; two sons, William Hechler and his wife Amy of Springfield, Missouri, Jason Hechler and his wife Lori of Perry, Georgia; two grandchildren, Killian Hechler and Logan Hechler; her two sisters, Linda Fitzsimons and her husband Mark of Springfield, Missouri, Brenda Kay Dorsett of Midlothian, Illinois; many cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Diana was preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters, Wanda Faye Noe, Teresa Squyres and Susan “Susie” Peco.

A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00p.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at the Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home in Springfield with a Visitation time to follow until 7:00 p.m.
