Obituary for Delores Speake (King)

Delores  Speake (King)
Delores Speake was born on February25, 1934 in Ava Mo to Charles and Chloe King. Delores married James (Ed) Speake on April 28, 1951 and to this union, six kids, Evelyn, Debbie, Wesley, Mark, Melody, and Eric were born.
In 1967, Ed & Delores purchased the Continental Trailways Bus Station located at Main and Walnut Streetsin Cabool, Mo. It became Speake’s Cafe several years later and was known for their biscuits and gravy, fried chicken, homemade pies – and so much more! Delores sold the cafe after Ed’s death and was a manager at the El Rancho Truck Stop for several years. After that she moved to Maryland to be a nanny to Melody’s son Phillip.
She moved back to Cabool and started working at Cabool Drug and Dime. She worked there for many years and then moved to Marshfield to be closer to her daughter Debbie. She was a member of the Cabool Assembly of God Church where she was the Church secretary for many years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ed, daughter Evelyn, granddaughters Renee and Claire Speake, grandson DJ McDonald, great-granddaughter Cheyenne and great-grandson Christopher Sigman. Delores had many grand and great grand kids that love her very much and she will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be at the Cabool Assembly of God on Saturday, May 20, 2017 with family visitation at 11:00 with the service at 12:00. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made in her name to Cabool Assemby of God, 1344 Ozark Ave, Cabool, MOD 65689, or Seasons Hospice, 1831 W Melville Rd, Springfield MO 65803
