Shirley Ann McCarthy 83, Springfield, Missouri passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2017, in Springfield. Shirley was born November 20, 1933, in Phoenix, New York, to Dominick and Ethel Procopio. Shirley for years was a master gardener, was Past President of Hillbilly Gardeners, and member of the Missouri Flowering Judging Council. She was a devout member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and spent many hours doing volunteer work.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard McCarthy.
She is survived by a son Tim and Lisa Shultz and family Kelsey, Nick and Ona, of Springfield.
Two sisters Virginia Whaley, Oswego, N.Y. and Helen Stoughtenger, Alexandria, Va, and a niece Diane Folk and husband John, Oswego, N.Y.
Visitation from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2017, in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2017, in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with Msgr. Thomas Reidy celebrant. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.
