Obituary for Herbert Albert Brase

Herbert Albert Brase
Herb Brase, 95, was born June 5, 1921 at Gordonville, Missouri and died November 29, 2016 at Willard, Missouri. Much loved husband of Mildred Irene (Wulff) Brase, father of Beverly Boehmer (Jerry), Springfield and Sue Zoll (Bob), Willard. Grandfather of Jill Boehmer Cobb, Bruce Boehmer, Amy Zoll Scott and Lori Zoll and Great-grandfather of 10. Preceded in death by his parents and wife, he was the fifth of seven children born to Albert and Tillie (Hoffman) Brase and is survived by older brother Emil Brase, 97. Farmer, teacher, basketball referee, and more, after WWII he worked the majority of his career as a banker. Missing in action, he was shot down with his B-17 crew over Hamburg, Germany, and was a POW purple heart recipient. A life-long Methodist, he loved his church and insisted it be vital and growing. He never knew a stranger and always had a smile. A fervent golfer whenever possible, especially in retirement, his delightful sense of humor allowed him to laugh a lot, even at himself. His love and attention to wife and family have been an inspiration for all. He is sorely missed, yet the precious memories are priceless.
